Thinking of Thanksgiving

Hello everyone! I don’t know about you, but when fall comes around each year I really get excited about Thanksgiving. I know that Halloween is next in line, and it’s fun to dress up and all, but as a holiday, I don’t really get into the whole theme of Halloween. I tend to stay away from the Halloween themed décor and focus more on fall inspired looks, and I associate fall more with the tradition of Thanksgiving and the meaning of the holiday.
In a previous post I shared with you my outdoor fall décor and as we approach Thanksgiving, I’m beginning to fill the inside of my home with fall inspired looks. At this point in New England, the leaves are beginning to fall, and the cold is starting to set in a little in the evenings. In the next couple of weeks, we’ll be bringing in the outdoor furniture and begin to cozy up by the fireplace indoors instead of the fire pit outdoors! I really do love how the seasons change here. Just when you kind of get tired of one season, the next one comes around.
So as I start to channel my thoughts towards Thanksgiving, I looked for some inspiration in preparation for the upcoming entertaining I am about the do. I love entertaining in the fall. Sometimes it will be a cocktail party for all of our friends, sometimes more of an intimate dinner with a few couples, and some years it’s just a Thanksgiving get together with all of our families.
This is some of the inspiration that I came across. I absolutely LOVE these centerpiece ideas and they are easy enough for me to recreate the look for my home.

I love the idea of a huge hollowed out pumpkin to chill beers or bottles of wine. I also like the idea of all white dishes with pumpkins stacked at different levels.

I am obsessed with the idea of using birch bark, or real wood stumps as shown here. I can easily recreate this. We have a forest of birch trees lining our back yard. I am definitely going to incorporate this look for Thanksgiving somehow because I also feel as though it can transition well into Christmas.

I know that I will also recreating this look for my buffet. I love the idea of using the pumpkins as pedestals. Genius!
Well, these ideas have really got me in the mood for Thanksgiving and fall entertaining. I hope that you leave here inspired too!
Until next time…THANKS for stopping by!

  1. I can't wait for Thanksgiving either. I am not a huge Halloween fan. I love it for the kids, but it's Thanksgiving that I really love. These are all fabulous ideas. I need to get my Thanksgiving Pinterest board started. Thanks for the inspiration.
